It was £7K at the time, which relates to £48K now. He wasn’t saying it cost £48K then! A 911 now is up to £90K so it relates about right.

The 924 had SUPERB styling but performance (power, acceleration) was not up to Porsche’s standard.

I’ve just bought my tenth transaxle Porsche, it’s a 1978′ 924 with 2 carburetors dell orto from lotus esprit + full inox exhaust.
it sounds great and really fun to drive.
the 924 engine is from the audi 100, imagined by porsche for VAG in the 60′s in 1.8 and later in 2.0 for the 924, the head cylinder in aluminium and a cam-belt in the place of the chain. assembled in the audi factory with the Porsche quality. so it’s a porsche engine.
