A drive in a Holbert Racing Porsche 931 Superwide
Take a blast through the countryside in a Porsche 924 turbo, but not just any 924 turbo, this is a ride in an uber-rare Holbert Racing 931 “Superwide” 924 turbo. Simply faster, better handling and quite a bit more powerful than your run-o-the-mill 924 turbo, watch this turbo harass a Cayman S, scoot around some beautiful back roads, and heel-and-toe at every turn. Clearly being driven by someone who knows what they’re doing!! (Fast Franz and Sideways Stefan, where are you??)

Porsche 924S Drifting
This Porsche 924S cost £300 to buy. It was completely road legal and came with a valid MOT certificate. It was driven to the circuit. It was driven home afterwards. A full day on the Oulton Park rally circuit costs in the region of £100 for unlimited access (ie an unlimited number of laps). Even if you crash your car and it’s unrepairable, £400 for a full track day is cheap (a track day in a Boxster or 996/997 will cost you that just in tyres!) Is this the cheapest and most fun Porsche motor sport there is? We think it probably is!!!

SCCA Autocross Event #5 2009 • Porsche 924s • John Run 4
This is footage from the fifth event of the 2009 Northwest Region SCCA Autocross series. The event took place at Hampton Mills in Packwood Washington on June 21, 2009. You’ll notice that the car is not my usual Miata 10AE, but a Porsche! My co-driver Glen Hernandez offered his car for the event, and I was happy to take the opportunity. It’s a 1988 Porsche 924s Club Sport. With an extra 10 horsepower and an amazing extra 40 foot pounds of torque compared to my Miata, it matched this course very well. The long stretches of acceleration, and overall lack of transitions, made this car a much better choice for the event. Jerry Jenkins commented that in the Northwest Region, we don’t have rain tires, we have rain cars! Well, I don’t know about the rain, but that’s pretty much true. If given the chance, of course I’ll take the better car for the course! Now if I could just get the hang of driving my own car fast, I’d be set… Seriously, the only events I have won this year have been in other people’s cars… (Thanks Rick V. and Glen H.!) This was my fastest run at 55.177 seconds. I grazed a cone going into the chute, but it somehow stayed upright, and touching the box. (Whew! Lucky…) Indexed, this put me 14th overall for the day, and 1st in class! Boo-Yah! Take that S2! Here’s a link to the results: www.wwscc.org
